The 1976 knebworth live version of Freebird was amazing in numerous ways! They opened for The Rolling Stones and read different articles they were told not to go out for an encore and play Freebird. Their show was going great and running long, so Ronnie Van Zant did as always, forgot management etc. and played an extra long version of Freebird and you’ll see the sacred Tongue only permitted use for the Stones, making this Freebird classic memorable! Saw this live in 1980 and it blew the doors off. The synthesizer part actually vibrated the concrete floor of the arena. Such a great rocker thats on permanent playlist I have.

Truly the best live version of this masterpiece I've ever seen or heard. This concert played on HBO in the spring of 1982. I was 12 years old. I must have watched it 40 times. Absolutely fell in love with Stevie Nicks. And I can assure you, it was nothing sexual. It was the MUSIC. THE SONG. The power and her passion. No song ever sounded anything like this before or since...from any artist of any style. I have followed Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac ever since. The band here was fantastic! No special effects...no backing tracks...no ridiculous dancers all over the stage.... just raw talent and genuine musicianship. Recorded in December of 1981 during the very brief Bella Donna Tour at the old Wilshire Theater in Los Angeles. I would have given a testicle to be there that night. Band was incredible. Her longtime guitarist Waddy Wachtel, the great Russ Kunkel on drums, Benmont Tench (of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) on keyboards/Hammond Organ... and on that incredible but often overlooked grand piano...banging on the ivory keys...is the amazing Roy Bittan from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Now that is what I call ROCK & ROLL... 1980's style. The best of times. Stevie and Pat Benatar were the queens of rock back in those days. Just great, great music...back when it was all about the quality of the music. The SONG 🎵

I can’t imagine the pain and horror these people went through. I have a couple of old hippy friends and one of them was a Vietnam vet. He had one leg, the pain hurt him constantly and no matter how many adjustments he went through, it was always very painful for him to walk with his prosthetic. He was so determined to try to be normal that he would walk until the skin broke from rubbing on his prosthetic. He never once talked about it, but his wife told me he was in an area that was hit by a bomb. He did tell me one time that he spent like a whole year in a hospital bed and the only thing that kept him sane was his radio. Poor Shelley!❤❤❤❤❤

The clarity of her voice, the purity..it was just incredible. A tragic loss for the music industry, her family and fans.

remember that this happened way before columbine, before school shootings was a thing. if i remember correctly this was THE FIRST mass shooting at a school. not just her parents ,but everyone was saying "why?" "i dont understand". its not that they were bad parents. by all accounts she had a very normal childhood. mistakes may have been made, sure, but nothing hidden in the closet. she simply had a fuse blow, an overloaded chip, a psycotic breakdown, a meltdown in reactor 7 or whatever other term for -she lost her shit!

When I listen to music that is responding to something more specific I like to get into understanding the context of the times, as they influenced the artists. "Southern Man" came out in 1970 and became a kind of anthem for the New Left Movement, mostly White, middle class, college educated people in the North and West that supported the Second Wave Civil Rights Movement and ending the war in Vietnam, among other things. It was pretty unique in White culture to have some breaking their silence on the inhumanity of other Whites, in a way that hadn't really been done since the abolitionist movement. ... It is worthy noting that the Southern Rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd responded musically with their own anthem "Sweet Home Alabama" that pushed back mostly with regional pride and not open racist reaction. That song hit in 1973, which was only eight years after Bloody Sunday in Selma, and Birmingham's use of firehoses and police dogs. In the context, "Sweet Home" was a loud dog whistle, where "Southern Man" is beautifully blunt.

As soon as I saw you were going to give this hit a listen, I knew you were going to be thrilled. I couldn’t wait to see your reaction when the sax solo kicked in. On most of the live recordings the string parts are played by the second keyboardist . I saw Al’s first Midnight Special appearance back in ‘76-77. You, my man have the listening ear of an old soul. So happy you got to enjoy this one .

I loved this song back in the day, still do. Henry has a lot of great songs that never get airplay. He was messed up in drugs and kind of disappeared for a long time but he got clean and he’s still singing today. His voice took a toll from the drugs but he can still sing and Henry is still Henry, he puts on a good show, fun and energetic. He’s so humble and I’m so proud of him for getting clean and glad to be able to still hear him sing and perform. ❤

This is one of the songs Elton played when I saw him live in 1980. Just like the rest of Yellow Brick Road its a masterpiece, just a powerful gets in you song. 50 years later it still sounds fantastic.

Bruce Springsteen is a national treasure. I have seen him many many times and each time was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. The man is the real deal. If I had to pick one musician hang out with it would definitely be him.

She came out before Alanis because she was still doing acting on you can't do that on television show. Taylor started in the late 80s and still does live performances. She and Whitney both had some of the same songwriters.i always felt as far as talent they were equal. That's my opinion though
